The Sunnybank Saints Soccer Club provides an avenue for amateurs to play soccer in and around the Sunnybank area of Brisbane Australia.
Our club home is in Lister St, Sunnybank where we have established a new clubhouse (opened in 2019) complete with 4 separate change rooms with showers, toilets, canteen and large meeting room.
We also use fields at Sunnybank High School (adjacent to Lister St), Brittain Park, and next to Calamvale Community College and for training and home games. Games are played on our home fields and across the southern areas of Brisbane, Ipswich and beyond. Our club also provides an avenue for players to be selected and play in the State titles through involvement with the South East Zones teams. Players can further be selected from these titles to play in State squads.
We field teams in age levels ranging from under 5 to over 65, including Juniors, Senior Men, Senior Women, Over 30’s and Over 40’s. Our club is an incorporated association affiliated with the Queensland Christian Soccer Association (Q.C.S.A.), where we have long been one of the largest clubs in the association, with playing membership numbers varying over the years, often reaching over 750 players and more than 50 teams.
We have been operating since 1978, when we started as a sporting body of St. Barnabas Anglican Church. Our objectives are to encourage sportsmanship in amateur soccer, to provide inexpensive access to soccer, to improve members soccer skills, to organise practice matches, and to field teams in Q.C.S.A. fixtures. We also offer Development squad training for players and goal keepers.
The playing season generally runs from March to September each year, with sign on occurring early due to high levels of demand. Online registration is generally available from November for the subsequent year, and sign on day at the field is late January. If you are not registered by sign on day you may not be able to secure a place in a team.
Matches are on Saturdays with junior ages in the morning and senior ages (men and women) in the afternoon. Over 30 and over 40 age groups play Friday nights.
We rely on volunteer parents for most roles within the club including the executive committee, committee, coaches and managers. This helps us keep our costs down to a minimal level. All Coaches are expected to participate in both free and paid coaching courses to develop their skills. Coaches who attend designated paid courses will be refunded the course when coaching for the year. Some Senior Teams have allocated Coaches to assist with training.
Final training times and locations are allocated after team formation and grading. Players and parents are reminded that training ovals are located at both Lister Street and Calamvale College. Please ensure you preview the team training times and locations schedule prior to registering with our club. Every effort will be made to keep to this schedule, however the committee may make changes in the interest of the club.
Registrations for each season are open from late November until the start of that season, pending available spots for the age group you are registering for.
