Fire hydrant funds now available after the election!
Peter Russo MP, the State Member for Toohey (the Qld State Electorate where the Lister St clubhouse is located), has gained an election commitment from the Qld Labor Government to provide the funds required to install a new fire hydrant for the Sunnybank Saints clubhouse.
As many club members are already aware, the fire hydrant became an important requirement for the clubhouse as a result of the addition of the skillion roof over the new spectator seating. The new roof brought our total roof area to more than 500m2, which meant that a fire hydrant was required within 10m of the clubhouse before the building could be used to its full capacity.
As the cost of installing the fire hydrant will be approximately $55,000, finding such a large amount has been quite a struggle. Several grants have been applied for in a bid to secure the much needed funds, without success, until Peter Russo MP was able to give us the great news.
The $55,000 needed for installation of the fire hydrant and associated expenses will be made available to the club in the event that the Labor Government is returned to office in the coming election. An election commitment like this is very difficult to obtain, and the Sunnybank Saints Committee and members extend our sincere thanks to Peter Russo MP and the State Government.
A special thanks must also go to Committee Member Terry Crimston, whose tireless work in chasing the much needed funds has paved the way for this great result. Thanks Terry!
