Players – need to be aged appropriately for that age group ie as at 31 December (at the commencement of the season) if the child is aged 8 years, then you are able to player in the U9 competition – (this means your child is turning 9 some time during that season). Proof of age is required ie passport or birth certificate.
Traveling – The competition may involve some traveling depending on the age groups and takes place on a Saturday.
Game times – vary depending on the age groups and teams numbers are capped to allow plenty of game time for all team players. Sunnybank Saints Soccer Club subscribes to FAIR GAME TIME for ALL PLAYERS regardless of the players ability.
Referees – are normally supplied by the Association, however it is not uncommon to have a lines person not available, thereby you may have to supply a person to assist.
Training – for these age groups is only 1 day per week, however the length of time a team trains is dependent on the age group. Training locations may be either at the Sunnybank or Calamvale fields. Preference for training times and locations are taken at the end of team formation.
Team formation – when forming U9-U10 teams, preferences will be given for returning players (previous season only) to return to their previous season team (friendship group) up until initial close of registration (ICOR) and subject to clause 6.0 (Team Composition). Returning players (previous season) failing to register by ICOR may not necessarily be returned to their previous season team (friendship group) if numbers have been filled.
U9 Registrations for 2021 Season
Commencing from the 2020 Season, our U/9 teams were restructured to accommodate teams of 12 players, this was to align the comp playing on midsized fields as a transition implemented by QCSA.
The forming of the 12 player teams will be dependent on a number of factors, including the number of players returning from each team, and the timeline of player registrations for 2021
Where possible, players will be placed with their previous U8 team members, but due to the requirement of merging 8 players from U8 teams into 12 players into the U9 teams, we cannot guarantee all players will be in last year teams.
Grading – all players in U11-JM are graded at Sunnybank Saints. Every effort is made to accommodate a player into an appropriate team.
Coach & Manager – Sunnybank Saints Soccer Club uses volunteer Coach and Managers. This enables us to keep costs low and means that at least one parent is required to be the coach of the team and likewise one parent is required to be the manager of the team. Expressions of interests are normally called for prior to the season. Where no coach has been appointed, we will require one or more volunteer parent to perform as the coach. Should we not have any persons nominate then one will be nominated on the day (this normally is not a problem as there is always someone wishing to coach and manage in most teams). If you are interested then indicate on the registration form when you are registering if you are wishing to coach or manage a team. There is A LEGISLATIVE REQUIREMENT to hold a Blue Card if you are the Coach or Manager of the team your child is in. All committee members hold current Blue Cards.
Volunteering – ALL Teams (parents of players) are expected to volunteer for one Saturday morning Line Marking Duty. This is not a hard job but helps us keep fees to a minimum level.
Please ensure you read and familiarise yourself with all club rules and policies.
For position availability and further information, please contact the U9-JM Registrar (see Contact Us). Please remember we are all volunteers and if we dont answer the phone immediately leave a message or send a txt message.
