🌟 Welcome to the 2026 Season – Sunnybank Saints Soccer Club
Over the past 10+ years of my involvement with Sunnybank Saints, I’ve witnessed remarkable growth and transformation.
Since our establishment in 1978, the club has proudly fostered soccer in the local community for nearly five decades, providing an enjoyable and affordable sporting association for people of all ages and backgrounds.
⚽ Our Heritage and Community
Sunnybank Saints was founded with constitutional ties to St Barnabas Anglican Church Sunnybank, and we remain committed to values of participation and fellowship. Based at Lister Street, we field teams in the Queensland Christian Soccer Association winter competition, and today we stand as one of the largest of more than 45 affiliated clubs.
📈 Growth and Achievements
- Player registrations have more than doubled in the past 17 years — from 270 in 2002 to over 800 in 2025.
- In 2006, we were honoured as Sporting Club of the Year at the Australia Day Awards.
- Our junior competitions thrived, particularly in the U6–U8 age group, where we fielded 20 teams in 2025.
- We have fielded record numbers for Juniors with over 32 teams from U9 to U15/16.
- Strong senior groups: 4 Senior Men’s, 3 Senior Women’s, 1 x Over-30 Men’s, and 3 x Over-40 Men’s sides in 2025.
🏟 Facilities and Innovation
During our time at Lister Street, we’ve:
- Installed irrigation, built covered grandstands, and upgraded lighting.
- Constructed a new clubhouse (opened in 2020) with modern amenities including change rooms, referee facilities, disabled access, and a community meeting room.
- Expanded at Calamvale with a multi-storage shed and competition-level lighting.
Administrative innovations have included:
- In-house U5 and U6 competitions (2004, 2006).
- Qualified referees for junior matches.
- Equal game time policy.
- Loyalty Awards program.
- Online registration and grading from U11 upwards.
- Appointment of a Coaching Director.
🌍 Diversity and Values
Our club is enriched by families from many ethnic and religious backgrounds. We are proud to bring family-oriented soccer to our community, underpinned by values, good sportsmanship, and inclusivity.
🎯 Looking Ahead – Season 2026
As we prepare for the 2026 season, let’s remember that FUN must always come first, closely followed by fair game time for every player. Success is not measured only in victories, but in friendships, teamwork, and the joy of the game.
I encourage every parent to get involved — as a coach, manager, or volunteer. Whether it’s line marking, helping in the canteen, or supporting your child’s team, your contribution enriches the Saints spirit and makes the experience more rewarding.
💬 Final Word
Enjoy the 2026 season ahead. Be encouraged, stay connected, and know that the committee will support you wherever necessary throughout the year. Together, we’ll continue to grow, celebrate, and keep the Mighty Saints spirit alive.
With gratitude,
Ken Nean
President, Sunnybank Saints Soccer Club
